AbiWord logoAbiWord version 2.4 is released. One of the new great features is the grammar checking feature. AbiWord is the first open source word processing program support grammar checking, not even OpenOffice.org.

AbiWord 2.4 with Grammar Checking

On-the-fly grammar checking is available for the English language. Sentences that are considered to be using bad grammar constructs are marked by green squiggles. For improved accessibility for color-blind or visually impaired users, the shape of grammar checking underlines differs from the underlines used for marking incorrect spelling.

Though the AbiWord spelling checker gives spelling suggestion but the grammar checker does not give any hint. It merely underlines the words with a green line. You have to correct the sentence by yourselves.

Thought

I am looking for spelling checker. AbiWord is a free solution but it lacks of grammar correction suggestion. It will take me longer time to check and correct the grammar errors. Hopefully it will improved in the coming version.
