Flock is an open source web browser based on Mozilla Firefox’s source code. Flock released its first downloadable version this week — Flock Developer Preview.

What’s New?

Basically, you will discover that Flock is nicely integrated with del.icio.us (social bookmark manager), Flickr (online photo sharing) and blogging. If you are diehard fan of these three popular web services, Flock may be right for you.

Why Flock?

On the other hand, if you do not use del.icio.us, Flickr, and do not blog. I see no reason why you should use Flock instead of Firefox.

Flock does not support Firefox extensions

Though Flock coding is based on Mozilla, it does not directly support Firefox extensions. Currently, there are only ten official Flock extensions.

Check out my unofficial Flock extensions ported from Firefox extensions.

My two cents

Flock is still new. It is still a Developer Preview version, so please expect some bugs in it. But there’s no harm trying. :)

Personally, I would not switch to Flock from Firefox because it is still new. I prefer the matured and well-developed Firefox. Plus, I do not use del.icio.us and Flickr. The simple build-in blog interface is not enough to satisfy my requirements.

Flock has many more features than you mentioned, and is based upon the more advanced Firefox 1.5 beta as well. Please check out my review for a more thorough look at Flock.
