Sorry, NO Google Office yet.

Sorry, there is no "Google Office", at least not so soon.
InternetNews published an article "Next Up: Google Office?" on October 3, 2005. Many people were discussing about GoogleOffice.
However, from the announced Sun Microsystem press release, the "Google Office" is no existing.
Under the agreement, Sun will include the Google Toolbar as an option in its consumer downloads of the Java Runtime Environment on http://java.com. In addition, the companies have agreed to explore opportunities to promote and enhance Sun technologies, like the Java Runtime Environment and the OpenOffice.org productivity suite available at http://www.openoffice.org.

Thought
Some people are actually quite fed up by the news. I am quite disappointed, too. I thought Google will sponsor StarOffice and make it free, just as what it did to free Opera.

there is one more, clone version of MS Office from China, WPS Office 2005.
it is free.. download, but the liciensing price is only cost RMB 20(RM 10).
p.s:this WPS 2005 won’t speak english (i.e. the whole UI is in Chinese Simplified…Orz)

Well, Google was constantly eyeing to expand their business scale by offering wider range of utility software. This often convinced industry analyst that, something called Google Office might be available.
However, under the agreement of latest collaboration between Sun and Google, Sun has actually granted Google the rights to customize and develop on OpenOffice.
This time, Google’s move is not focusing on offering standalone office application; but instead, something like an online and web-based office application which promotes collaboration

Of course if you see Google’s past achievements, their products are all internet based. Never PC based like Microsoft Office.
Even with Office having more Net features, they will never be able to compete with a Google-Office app that’s internet based. That’s one killer app !! It WILL materialise… I am confident of it
