Firefox 1.5 RC 1
Filed in: Mozilla, Open Source, Technology — November 2nd, 2005
Nearly one month after Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 was released, Firefox 1.5 RC 1 has now landed. Some bugs in Beta 2 are fixed in Firefox RC 1.
My Firefox was updated using the automatic update. Unlike the previously failed experience with version 1.5 Beta 1, this time, Firefox was successfully updated.

The size of the update file is only 884KB, but the download speed was very slow. It took me about five minutes to download using a 512Kb broadband connection.
All existing Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 extensions are working properly on version 1.5 RC 1, although the installer warns about incompatible extensions.
Note: Firefox 1.5 RC 1 is NOT THE FINAL RELEASE VERSION of Firefox 1.5, it has been made available for testing purposes, with no end-user support.
My two cents
Though Firefox 1.5 is not a final release just yet, I have using it for some time. Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 is very stable for my full day usage. With the release of RC (Release Candidate), we will probably get the final release of Firefox 1.5 in early 2006.
