“Britney Spears” is the top search in Yahoo! for year 2005. She has won top search for 3 of the last 4 years (lose to “American idol” in year 2004).
Following Britney Spears in the top searches are: 50 Cent, Cartoon Network, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Eminem, Ciara, and Lindsay Lohan.
My two cents
As you might have noticed, the top searches are celebrities. The reason could be that people were looking for songs and pictures of hot celebrities to download.
I am quite surprised that Bridney Spears still the top one in 2005. I know her during my college time. Every of my friends play her songs (and her Hot MTV) on their computers. But seems like she is fading out after marriage. Is marriage really a grave?
