Feed Your Reader: Using Feed Reader for Firefox RSS Autodiscovery
Filed in: Downloads, Mozilla — December 17th, 2005
Firefox supports RSS auto discovery. Once an RSS link is found, Firefox will show an icon in the address bar. Clicking on the icon will subscribe the RSS feed to your Firefox live bookmark. But I do not want to use live bookmark, I want to use my own feed reader.
I found Feed Your Reader, a Firefox extension that does exactly what I want.
Feed Your Reader (FYR) is a Firefox extension that send Firefox auto discovery RSS link to your feed reader, instead of Firefox live bookmark. Clicking on the RSS icon will subscribe the feed with your predefined feed reader.
FYR uses feed:// protocol by default, it also supports both web based aggregators and desktop applications that do not support the feed:// protocol. A list of supported feed readers is available.
My two cents
The simple extension made my life easier. Now I can subscribe with a click, instead of copy n paste the rss link to my feed reader. ![]()

it is not a feed reader. “Feed Your Reader” let you use your feed reader for Firefox RSS autodiscovery, instead of Live Bookmark.

I always prefer newsgator. It’s the best. Web based news reader has its advantages.
