Liew, nice to see you back. I’ve been reading your Blogs for quite a while and only wanted to comment on one thing with you recent posts.
Why do you hesistate on simply calling your “ex-girlfriend” a “friend”? You said yourself that you don’t want to get back. Why insist on the label of “ex-girlfriend” and wearing it like a medal of honour?
Truthfully, I don’t see any honour in that.

@Vince: English is not my mother tongue. Anything wrong with the word “ex-girlfriend”? Which better word should I use?
I did not use “friend” because she is the special one. I have many friends but I have only 3 ex girlfriends. They are special to me, I wish to identify them in my posts.

Liew,
Nothing wrong with the language used. It’s just a personal opinion that there comes a time when these ex-girlfriends should have the respect of being simply called a friend if the friendship continues. There’s a false expecation set to continue mentioning them as girlfriend (with all the different contexts associated with that word, ex or not)
I was just not sure whether the constant mentioning of “ex-girlfirend” was for the readers’ benefit or for the friend’s benefit or for your own benefit (pride, special feelings etc). I do not mean any ill will towards you

I think when comes to reading a malaysian Blog, we gonna think like malaysian, and expect the culture including English being used. Maybe Englishman from UK might scretch their head wondering what are some of the words mean, but it[’s understood for Malaysian readers.

An ex girlfriend is like a title lor. Like Liew said, they are special to him. So he should be right to address them as his ex. Maybe deep down inside Liew might want to get back with one of his ex girlfriends. Should the question be, which one?

As a reader I would prefer the title ‘ex-girlfriend’ since it makes the article so much interesting to read and since there are so many mentions of friends in Liew’s blog, the title ‘ex-girlfriend’ easily differentiate them. Nothing to do with culture or language, just a matter of individual preference. Vince does have his points too but as long as the girl is not offended by the title ‘ex-girlfriend’, it’s ok to use it in my opinion.
