Make a Living from Blogging?
Filed in: Make Money Online, Weblog — February 15th, 2006
An interesting interview session on “make a living from blogging” conducted by Wired News with Harold Davis, the author of two Google books. His latest book is Google Advertising Tools.

Wired News: Can a blogger realistically expect to make a living from blogging?
Harold Davis: There are people who make a living blogging, but if you’re going to do it on your own, you darn well better have a ton of traffic. There are 10 million lonely bloggers and people probably only read a few thousand. If you’re going to make serious money off this, it’s a serious time commitment.

My two cents
“Are you still blogging full time?”, some friends asked me. Maybe people don’t think a full time blogger can survive for a long time?
I, Liew Cheon Fong, am the one of the very first full time blogger in Malaysia. I am quite proud of it.
[Thanks, David]

nice living blogging. wish i can do that but it seems doing blog full time consume too much time. is it? how many hours u put in this blog liew?
February 16th, 2006 at 12:21 pm
erm..actually it is easy in Malaysia because earning USD500 would be arround the starting pay for any graduate….and it is a low target
but for developed/high cost living country USD500 may be just enought for a week pay and after tax, you will barely survive.

Hey, anyone can help me out on this one… google re-indexes around very two weeks…let’s say i post a lot like 100+ entries in this two week time, will i be able to get lots of pages to be indexed by google? and therefore get lots of visitors once google reindexes. Can I pull off with this strategy? Anyone can give opinion on this? hehe

@freemyspacelayouts
wah..very fast.. did u use the paid service to promote your website?
@katana
I think so.., but you dont have to wait two weeks., you can work on more reciprocal links to get indexed by ajor search engines faster. I have a website that just take 1day to get indexed by google.
February 20th, 2006 at 9:57 am
nop .. i dint pay money to promote my sites .. well it takes me 3 weeks to build the site with strong keywords in it ..
February 20th, 2006 at 10:11 am
build site with strong keywords only the get traffic? any other way?
February 20th, 2006 at 2:09 pm
if u want to make money from the net .. get visitors from search engine .. higher chances they will click your cpc banner or adsense and also adbrite
February 20th, 2006 at 2:32 pm

On the Adsense topic, I would be very cautious. We got a generic note from Google that ‘click fraud’ had been detetected on our account and that our account was suspended without recourse. We tried to find out the problem and sent a copy of our web logs showing no such unusual activity. Then we received another reponse which would not reveal any information but they claimed that they did have proof but, due to ‘client confidentiality, could not reveal any of it.
This story has been repeated to us by at least 30 of our readership over the last week or two. It would appear that this mostly happened when people were starting to get, or had a sudden boost, income from the Google Adsense program.
This doesn’t strike me as a good way to do business. The moral here is ‘beware’ and don’t rely too much on Google Adsense just in case the same happens to your account to!
