Adsense Trick: Google Blogoscoped

Stumbled upon this nice AdSense placement trick on Google Blogoscoped.
They divide a banner (468×60) into two parts. On the left is an image that links to its cafepress store, the other part is an AdSense half banner ads (234×60). Either side will bring revenue to the site. Clever huh?

have anybody asked google about this placement?

Not allowed anymore. Google has now asked all Adsense publishers to stop using images beside ads becuase visitors can confuse the image content with the ads.
