AdSense Trick: Hidden Ads
Filed in: Adsense Tips, Make Money Online — May 27th, 2006
I discovered this tricky adsense placement on a recipe website introduced by a net friend.

Can you find the ads? (click on thumbnail to enlarge)
It is not easy to spot the ads without paying attention (e.g: search for ads). I believe the ads unit has a VERY high CTR. Moreover, the AdSense ads unit is placed at top of the page.

umm, isn’t it illegal to conceal the urls? which is why there’s such a big gap between the ads and the part that says ads by google

I’m not sure if it’s even possible to conceal them, if you try to they’ll just appear in black, that’s what i heard.

@boringest: leaderboard ad unit does NOT show URLs.
See https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats

seen a lot of these too but most of them place the ads on top instead of wha is shown here at the bottom.

I believe that’s against Google TOS. There should be a clear distinction between content and ads.= according to Google.

oops…my bad. and the publisher’s quite lucky that all the ads are in 2 lines only.

great ctr%, relevant ads, etc..
this is good. But is it allowed?

Please don’t try this “neat” trick because I believe it is againt Google TOS.

It’s not against Google’s TOS, the publisher at that site didn’t encourage anyone to click the ads, nor did he edit the ad frame itself.
