Free SkypeOut Calls (US and Canada)
Filed in: Technology, VoIP — May 16th, 2006
Good news for US and Canada residents! You can now make free calls to all landlines and mobile phones!
If you’re in the US or Canada, you can use SkypeOut to call any landline or mobile number in both the USA and Canada for free.
If you’re in the US or Canada and calling any other country, OR if you’re in any other country and calling landline or mobile numbers in the US or Canada, the standard SkypeOut rates apply.

The offer is valid until the end of 2006.

- Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit for Skype
- Skytone USB Speakerphone with LCD
- USB Internet Phone with skype
My two cents
Cool! It’s an attractive promotion! Skype wants to replace traditional phone services?

If you read the comments from the original article many skype users in US cannot use the free service.
Apparently Skype scans the IP to check if the user is an American user or not. Some with clearly US based IP can’t use the service too.
A hiccup from Skype.

@parameswaran: you can make free call by using VOIP (internet-to-internet) calls.
