Yes, Mozilla Firefox 2 has been officially released.

Firefox 2 officially released

It has no different to previously leaked download link. However, you are adviced to download from Mozilla.com, so that your download will be redirected to local mirros for faster download speed.

By the way, I discovered that Firefox 2 fixed the search in textarea bug, which was there since Firefox PR1.0. Now, page search will include text in textarea. :)
On the other hand, the spelling checker still does not work well for me. It underlines misspelled word but does not give me spelling suggestion. I disabled most of the extensions but no luck. Can other Mac user confirm this?

Update: Mozilla also updated the design of Add-ons page.

The spell checker works fine to me. When I right click on the underlined word, it will show me some suggestions. Do AdSense’s Firefox refferal upgraded to Firefox2 too?

Firefox 2 has some small but annoying bugs…=\…is there anyway to downgrade to Firefox 1.5 ?

    LcF Says:

@Allen.H: What are the bugs you encounter? You can TRY to uninstall FireFox 2 and install back Firefox 1.5. Make sure you have backup your FireFox user profile and bookmarks.

sometimes the keyboard shortcuts don’t work. i dunno why though.

it usually happens after i press ctrl + T to open a new tab. after that, i can’t use shortcuts like ctrl +C, ctrl +V and so on. (it doesn’t happen everytime)

I’ve for ff2 in Linux. On my laptop spell checking works fine. On my desktop I have the same issue. I’d love to find out what causes it.

I discovered that disable the “All-in-one Gestures” will bring the spell checking back.

for several months I’ve tried using FF2. I’m completely dissatisfied so I’ve downgraded back to FF1.5. I had both versions installed and would try 2.0 occasionally only to find it way bloated.

Whenever you install FF2, you can insall to a different directory. In this case, I used \progfiles\mozilla\FireFox2…

And I don’t belive FF removes your bookmarks…profile..upon uninstall… at least it’s never happened to me.

I can confirm this. All-in-one gestures extension breaks the spelling suggestions/add to dictionary context menu items for Firefox 2.0.0.6 Mac.

    LcF Says:

@penkapp: yes, but seems like all-in-one gestures extension is death. :-(
