Apple iPod Shuffle Silver 1GB (2nd Generation)
Filed in: Gadgets, Reviews — November 26th, 2006
Apple iPod Shuffle Silver 1GB (2nd Generation) has start shipping in Malaysia. The listed price is RM399, which is more expensive than Apple.com’s USD79 (compare prices).
Personally, I do not understand why would someone buy an Apple iPod shuffle which has no screen display, but a small storage space. Furthermore, it is expensive.
My brother is one Apple iPod shuffle fan. He fell in love with Apple iPod shuffle at first sight. “It is cool!” he tells me.
Well, let’s see how cool is an Apple iPod shuffle from the following iPod shuffle commercial video.
Hmm… Yup, it is cool.
Some features of Apple iPod Shuffle Silver 1GB (2nd Generation)
- iPod Shuffle holds 240 songs on 1 GB of storage
- Download songs from the iTunes Store, import songs from your CDs, and sync them to your Shuffle
- Thumb-friendly, circular control pad makes navigation a breeze
- Battery indicator light features three levels–green (full), amber (low), and red (empty)
- Measures 1.62 x 1.07 x 0.41 inches (WxHxD) and weighs 0.55 ounces
If you are wondering how to transfer songs to the small gadget, a dock is included to sync songs and recharge iPod shuffle battery.
Getting Apple iPod Shuffle Silver 1GB (2nd Generation)
Since my brother like it so much, I think I can get him an Apple iPod Shuffle Silver 1GB (2nd Generation). As an X’mas gift? Perhaps.
But, RM399 for a 1GB MP3 player is expensive. I will bid one on Ebay. How about you?

1 GB USB storage cost about RM70 at Low Yat…so that leaves just above RM300 for the player parts and the rest…mann… so expensive. Even the players also nowadays very cheap… I guess you are paying for Apple brand name. You get what you pay for I guess.

Although I love the commerical (as usual) for the new Apple Shuffle, I’m really not impressed with the product. I like the fact that it is so small and convenient, but the negative aspects really seem to overpower this one positive one. For starters there is not display, so as the name states you are literally left to shuffle through all the songs to find one you would like to hear. Also, it only holds 240 songs. Since they are running aroung $80 to $100 and there is no display for these songs I really don’t see the point in purchasing one. You might as well cough up the extra $150 and get the real deal. But, like i said earlier, as usual Apple’s advertising skills are right on target with the commerical where the person is putting on the shirt over and over then hooking on the Shuffle.
