Filed in: Make Money Online, Web — December 12th, 2006
If you could win a million dollar($1,000,000) just by clicking ads, would you join? Welcome to Pixelotto!

Current screenshot of Pixelotto
Pixelotto is another project by the creator of the million dollar homepage, Alex Tew.
Similar to “The Million Dollar Homepage”, Pixelotto has 1,000,000 pixels of ad space but each pixel sells at $2, instead of $1. $1 of $2 will be put into a prize fund for the winner of Pixelotto. Currently, $138,100 has been collected.
How to win a million dollar?
Instead of spend money on the pixel ads, you can stand a chance to win a million dollar from Pixelotto. Simply sign up a free account, and give 10 clicks per day to any pixel ads on the page. A month after all the ad space is sold, one ad is selected at random and a winner is chosen from all those people who clicked that correct ad.
My two cents
Well, another million dollar for Alex Tew. ![]()
For a surfer, no harm trying since it is free to join. Who knows, you might be the next millionaire?
For an advertiser, I think the ad does not worth the money. The smallest ad unit cost $200 and will only online until all the pixels sold, plus one month. The maximum length of time is 13 months.
Though your pixel ad might bring in some traffic by the lottery game but those are untargeted traffic. The visitors goes to your website, not because of your products, but for the one million bucks.
[Thanks, Adi Wong]

I think it is rather for being a part of the Internet Pixel History. $200 for people in other parts of the world is RM200. Way cheap for a company advertisements cost and also the bragging rights.
I am also playing..heheh….

Guys…no matter what you say, pixelotto is still gonna be sold out in a next month or so. Reason being there are many advertisers who just want traffic. They don’t care if people buy or not. Yes, that is also a tactic that pays in the long run. Popularity equals sales in the long run. Been there done that.
BTW Pixelotto script domain http://www.pixelottoscript.com is for sale at Ebay. Item # is 290061998642

This site has something similar, and yet different.
http://puzzle-ads.warkensoft.com/
From their site:
“The idea of Photo Puzzle Ads, is to allow businesses and individuals to purchase blocks of the puzzle, which would then become visible to the general public, unfolding the scene in the photo and linked directly to the websites of the purchasers.”

http://www.pixelsandpresents.com
Pixels and Presents are giving away free gifts ( Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, TV’s, laptops, DVD’s, and much more) to EVERY advertiser. That’s right: EVERYONE who purchases pixels will get a gift.
We are also randomly selecting visitors…who will also get some of the above gifts! Not one, not just a few…a SLEW of people!

dollarlinking is quite cool but it does not have the 1million dollar touch to the page.

I joined. I’m clicking for a million every day, I would however never advertise on such a site.

Hi,
I just wanted to get in touch to mention our newly launched website,
TurfJam. Its an experiment in the worth of online advertising spaces.
Following on from Internet legends such as the Million Dollar Homepage,
TurfJam is an advertising opportunity for marketeers and businesses..
however, the difference here is that each spot on TurfJam is being auction
off. There are 100 pieces of “turf”, being released 10 at a time. As each
auction runs and completes we will be updating and comparing the winning
cost of each piece (all are the same size) to see how the price changes over
time, and in relation to the number of pieces of turf left.
If you would like more information please visit http://www.turfjam.com or get in
touch with any questions.
Regards,
Craig Williams

Again, i state that Alex could have done so much more with a new site. In my opinion he’s failed to make the mark with pixelotto. Providing visitors an incentive to click the ads was correct, however, making just one person a million dollar winner doesn’t fair well with the general public……. the chances of winning aren’t realistic. One of the copycats hit the mark and that is http://www.pixaprize.com. A long-term, sustainable business concept, with the grid transformed into a treasure hunt grid and prizes hidden behind various squares for visitors to win. If that wasn’t enough, vsitors are given quirky “hot & cold” clues to help them find those prizes. Gets visitors clicking and advertisers are much happier for the traffic. Appeasing both visitors and advertisers is what it’s about and pixaprize hits the mark. Unlucky Alex i say! should’ve copied pixaprize!

I found another site, but it’s quite different - it doesn’t sell pixels, but rather letters. http://www.lettermatrix.com
