My friend was asking for information about customs Malaysia. I didn’t know where should I point him to, until I discovered www.gov.my (myGovernment) today via theStar.

Gov.my or myGovernment does not have a Web 2.0 look but it is fully packed with information. It has the information you need as a Malaysia citizen or doing business in Malaysia.

However, I would suggest myGovenment to redesign the website for better website structure, information layout, and user navigation. I recommend “Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability (2nd Edition)” to the webmaster. :)

http://www.gov.my had been in existence for a long time. i visit it often (when i need something gov. related!). i’m not surprise not many people know of its existence.

the website looks quite cramped (congested) on its home page!

Yep… myGov needs major site rehaul.. They’ve been aggressive in marketing it lately, thru TV and newspapers, but the site is hard-to-navigate, plain confusing and contain lots of outdated links.

I’m surprised that government-funded sites that costs several hundred thousand to several millions each to develop constantly show poor quality, being the better ones would cost only a tenth or less than what these government are spending on their websites.

Lots of people’s money gone to the drains with poor ICT implementations of the govt. For instance, Rukun Tetangga is spending RM9million for their upcoming system.. I’m pretty sure that this would mean RM8 million would be wasted for bureaucracies.
