Important! Upgrade your WordPress to 2.1.2!
Filed in: WordPress — March 3rd, 2007
Just a few days after version 2.1.1, WordPress released version 2.1.2 because the previous version may include a security exploit that was added by a cracker!
Wow! That’s dangerous!
Apparently, a cracker hacked one of the WordPress.org servers, and modified the version 2.1.1 download file. Two files were modified to include code that would allow for remote PHP execution.
Is your blog using WordPress 2.1.1? Hey, stop reading! Download latest WordPress and do a full upgrade immediately (overwrite all old wordpress files)

Another update? I’m getting cold feet from the upgrade. The last upgrade I did, it went wrong and I actually did not do a proper backup! With my not-so-wonderful technical skills, I manage to retrieve my backup and get my blog up again in 24 hours. 24 hours of panicking was not fun…
After reading your comment, I think I really have to do the upgrade - like it or not!
This time round… 1) Backup 2) Get technical support on stand-by 3) Upgrade!
