Google PageRank, why should you care?

April 29th, 2007 | Category: Google, SEO Beginner | 13 Comments

Google PageRank 10Google is updating PageRank again recently. What is your PR? After chasing PageRank increment for years, I care less about it now. Why? Because it always disappoints me. Just kidding. :P

As a webmaster, one should know about PageRank but do not work for PageRank. Webmasters should not be the slave of Google PageRank. Afterall, you create website for visitors, not Google.

viggen says: “Do i need to know that? What does it tell me when i know it? Why would i care? Meaning, what purpose has the Pagerank for the mom and pop site out there?”

viggen, I think that’s a perfectly healthy attitude. If you don’t care about PageRank and your site is doing well, that’s fine by me. :)

Quoted from Matt Cutts: More info on PageRank

So, why people care about PageRank? We assume getting high PR will get higher rank in Google search results for any phrases (which is NOT truth), and, more importantly, higher PR means you can sell ads at higher price (Cha-ching!).

We always have nice PageRank articles at every PageRank update, read: What Is Google PageRank? A Guide For Searchers & Webmasters
