Google PageRank, why should you care?

Google is updating PageRank again recently. What is your PR? After chasing PageRank increment for years, I care less about it now. Why? Because it always disappoints me. Just kidding. 
As a webmaster, one should know about PageRank but do not work for PageRank. Webmasters should not be the slave of Google PageRank. Afterall, you create website for visitors, not Google.

viggen, I think that’s a perfectly healthy attitude. If you don’t care about PageRank and your site is doing well, that’s fine by me.

So, why people care about PageRank? We assume getting high PR will get higher rank in Google search results for any phrases (which is NOT truth), and, more importantly, higher PR means you can sell ads at higher price (Cha-ching!).

I like being able to glance down at it occasionally. It seems to give a good feel for blogs especially. I use the SearchStatus toolbar to track Pagerank (so I won’t need the Google toolbar) and Alexa score.

funny, it still shows PR4 here. The PR5 i know of is without the “/blog/” in the address. The feeds we used to get to your post is still referring to your http://www.liewcf.com/blog/ … therefore it still showing PR4. I have a post on this funny PR. I hope Im wrong for we all know you got PR5 and it is no surprise if you go up to PR6. Please comment, friend

I thought that liewcf had PR6 once. I think it is because you moved it to /blog/
Anyhow, if you have reader, PR doesn’t matter anymore. But PR is a way to judge a page SEO, and it is one of many method which you can use number 1-10 to judge a page. So this will apply to website as well as blog.
