Langkawi Holiday

May 24th, 2007 | Category: Life Log | 17 Comments

LangkawiIn case you were wondering, I was on vacation in the past few days. I went to Langkawi with friends, 12 of us. It was fun to travel with friends. :)
We booked the travel package during MATTA Fair. We took AirAsia flight to Pulau Langkawi. The package included car rental of 4 Proton Iswara. I must say the cars are old and broke, fortunately we were safe during the 3 days 2 nights. We stayed in lousy chalets with minimum facilities.

In the Langkawi Island, we had island hopping tour(pregnant maiden lake, eagle feeding, wet rice island), took Langkawi cablecar, cross through the scary bridge between hills (name?).

We had a seafood dinner at Coconut Beach Restaurant but my friends were disappointed by their services, food and the expensive bill. The last night in Langkawi, we had another seafood dinner in Kuah but that time was much more satisfied and surprisingly cheap bill.

Langkawi is duty free island. We had a great shopping time. 12 of us spend few thousands bucks on chocolate, wine and perfume just in an hour’s time!

I saw a lot of spa resports in Langkawi. One of my friend went to the spa and was offered an “extra service” by the Thailand massage girl, but he didn’t try the “service”. ;)

Google Universal Search

May 17th, 2007 | Category: Google | 5 Comments

Have you noticed something different on Google homepage and search result pages?

Google Universal Search

Google homepage has links to other Google services on the top left corner. On search result pages, a navigation bar with dynamic links added below the top search form.

For some search terms (e.g. steve jobs, you might also get image results at the top, related search terms and news archive results at the bottom.

These are some of the changes of Google Universal Search.

“Our focus has always been making our users’ search experience as simple and straightforward as possible,” said Marissa Mayer, vice president of search products and user experience at Google. “The ultimate goal of universal search is to break down the silos of information that exist on the web and provide the very best answer every time a user enters a query. While we still have a long way to go, today’s announcements are a big step in that direction.”
