Just a few months after the launch of Windows Vista, CNET News.com has learned that Microsoft is planning for next version of Windows called “Windows 7” around 2010.

Windows 7 was previously known by the code name Vienna. Windows 7 is the internal code name. Like Windows Vista, It will be shipped in consumer and business versions, and in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Microsoft hasn’t revealed much information about the features of the next operating system.

Why “7″?

According to Paul Thurrott’s SuperSite for Windows, “Since Windows Vista is really Windows 6.0, Vienna will presumably be version 7.0.”

My two cents

Although Windows Vista is still new to most users, but most of us should be using Vista by 2010. I am curious about the features of next Microsoft operating system.

By the way, there are increasing number of users thinking to get a Apple Mac computer. Apple will release its next generation of operating system named “Leopard” in October 2007.

I think it will be nice to see the operating system coming at a slow pace. I was happy to see that Microsoft came up with Vista after 5 years of launch of xp. This allows the company and users to get used to OS, if they’ll launch OS so soon, then it will be pointless as people will be still trying to understand or get used to Vista by 2010

Knowing Vista and if the picture is actually real then most of the ideas will be suped up versions of things other companies have already came out with. for example most of the stuff vista like aero flip 3-D was originally a linux design. but i guess that it’s fair game if it’s share ware

I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium, but unluckily i had to complain about it . The windows update just make my laptop messy. Once i get the news of windows 7 coming out and vista closing at 2010.i felt sad and so pathetic on Microsoft.

Well, I hope with 7 (Vienna), they create an OS. What I mean by this is that Vista, and XP at one time, had limitations on slightly dated software. XP worked out most of the bugs withing 6 months. Vista seems to be turning their back on the consumer, so Dell, Gateway and most other PC distrinuters are shipping the systems with the latest OS. This means that the general public are treated like cattle, being force fed a system that has major compatability issues. In a nutshell, Im paying $800 for a laptop, not an operating system, so dont tell me programs and drivers wont be available for my new toy…….
