TMNet Streamyx Service Interruption (August 2007)
Filed in: Tmnet — August 23rd, 2007
My online friends and I have been experiencing very slow Streamyx Internet connection since late night of 22nd August 2007. Connections to International websites is at unbearable slow speed and timeout at the end.
TMNet website has an announcement about the interruption:
We regret to inform our customers that TM will be performing system maintenance to upgrade our network from 22nd August 2007 to 24th August 2007, from 12:00 midnight till 6:00 a.m in the Klang Valley area.
Meaning, no Streamyx Internet connection from 12:00 midnight till 6:00 a.m at 22nd to 24th August. The notice stated that it affected customers in Klang Valley area only but it is not the case. I am from Johor.
According to JARING website, there is maintenance works on August 23, 2007 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. And, JARING just resolved the problem of slow access towards International websites at the night of 21 Ogos 2007.
Would they be related to TMNet Streamyx service interruption?
For the time being, I am using free proxy (Australia) for web browsing. How is your Streamyx connection speed there?

My streamyx has been unbearable for about a week or so already. I seem to be able to open only one web page at a time. Opening more than one page would stall every single attempted pages or downloads. Thought it’s my Windows, but changing PCs, changing modems and doing all the dummy tricks normally suggested by streamyx technicians (again thru a 20-minute boring phone therapy sessions) like removing splitters, emptying your Internet cache/temp files etc doesn’t solve the problem. Gotta be the mysterious problem with Streamyx.

it is now sept 1st 2007. the disruption was from aug 22nd to 24th? how is it that 7 days later the speed is still so slow and i can’t surf international sites?
of late, i’ve also tested surfing local sites and i keep getting a timed out error too. i’ve ran my dns lookup tests and found that the dns servers are ok but we can’t seem to surf international sites.
wtf is up with this screamyx people??? if you need 20 days to change, unit-test and uat the equipment, just let people know…
i’m frustrated… i’m paying rm88 to screamyx to squeeze the life out of me.
btw, i’m in PJ area…

December 25th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
tmnet is the sleeping ISP in Malaysia. You know what?
When it comes to service distruptions, they never inform us via Email. The put on their websites and hoping us to surf there everyday to read?
When promotions time, hmmmm, hmmmm, hmmmm, your Emails come super fast! What I’m going to say is that Please inform our customer if there is any service distruptions not hoping us to surf your websites everytimes!
If they can Email us about every single promotions, then they should able to do it for service distruptions.
April 22nd, 2008 at 10:39 pm
When they start to make Streamyx, there are no problems at all! But then, this promotion thing,it start to slow down.I don’t know what happen to TMnet Streamyx but Asian line is surely sucks!
Damn,I really love Youtube! But this year, open youtube at night. GET THE HELL OFF!!!! Worst connection service i ever had in my life!
They didn’t even take action about TMnet anyway! I heard that Americans line connection is good as heaven! Much more faster than this Ol’ slowpoke TMnet!
Play multiplayer games,100% LAG!

-> If you wish to know about it go to http://www.aztech.com.sg/prod_lan_wl850ms.html
Some people complain about the old aztech because old aztech cannot install on windows vista, only win98 until windows xp.Now with this baby, you can install it on Windows Vista because its brand new wireless LAN!
