BlogRush New Changes

September 28th, 2007 | Category: SEO Beginner | 13 Comments

BlogRush logoI was about to remove BlogRush widget but then I received a BlogRush newsletter about their new changes. I decided to give it more time to see how effective are the changes.

Currently, BlogRush statistics have been disabled temporary. I think it is a good idea to hide the cruel fact (low incoming traffic) of current BlogRush and keep the existing members.

Here are the “shocking changes” (coming soon) according to BlogRush:

  • 100% manual blog review — BlogRush will manually review every single new blog to filter out spam sites.
  • More categories — BlogRush adds more categories to increase the relevancy of post links in widget.
  • Improved reporting — Bonus credit activity will be reported. Low traffic members will get “a ton more bonus credits” than high traffic members.
  • Improved network distribution — balance between building and using credit points.

2nd anniversary of full-time bloggingThis post is part of my 2nd anniversary of full-time blogging blog post series which I share with you about the insights of a Malaysian full-time blogger.

In response to the post of my blogging workspace, some readers have submitted pictures/video of their workspace.

Jenny How’s workspace

Jenny How is a full time ebay seller and part time blogger. She has a small but neat (after cleaned up?) workspace in her bedroom.

While her laptop’s clock is set to Ebay’s time, she has a cute Hello Kitty clock for local time. Also, she has a powerful Samsung All-in-One Laser printer for her ebay businesses.

Apple’s blogging workspace

Apple is a geek girl in Kuching, Malaysia. Apple blogs on a small table in her bedroom. But, she has setup a desktop PC as a server for network printer and file sharing.

Apple also shows pictures of her office desk and worn out keyword in her post.

New Features in WordPress 2.3 for Bloggers

September 26th, 2007 | Category: WordPress | 14 Comments

WordPressWordPress 2.3 has been released. The new release includes many improvements and new features over version 2.2 such as native tagging support, plugin update notification, better URL handling, and more.

Here are some notable features for WordPress bloggers:

  • Native tagging support — WordPress now natively supports tagging on posts. If you are using tag plugin for your blog, there are tag importers for Ultimate Tag Warriror, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati tag plugins. (screenshots)
  • Update notification — you will be notified when there is a new release of WordPress or plugin update available. Only your blog URL, plugins, and version information will be send to api.wordpress.org to check for updates. (screenshots)
  • Better URL handling — WordPress 2.3 implements better URL handling for better SEO optimization. Based on your choice (WWW or no-WWW), WordPress automatically redirect the other to your blog address. Partial post URLs (e.g. URL cut off in email) should find and redirect to the full URL. Changed Post Slug (post URL)? WordPress now redirect the old URL to the new one.
  • Pending Review — A great new feature for multi-author blogs. Authors can label drafts that are ready for review (by editor or administrator) before publishing. (screenshot)
  • Advanced Visual Editor buttons — the Visual Editor now include a button to show advanced toolbar which is previously hidden. (screenshots)
  • Updated default blogroll — No more personal blogs on WordPress default blogroll. WordPress 2.3 default blogroll now links to useful WordPress resources. (screenshots)

Native tagging support and Update notification are 2 of the most wanted features by WordPress users.

WordPress 2.4 is planned to release at December 12, 2007.

September 22nd, 2007 | Category: SEO Beginner, Weblog | 23 Comments

BlogRush logoYou probably read about BlogRush on other sites, it is a free widget that claims to be the “fastest and easiest way to instantly drive a flood or targeted readers to your blog”. That’s very attractive but how truth it is?

What is BlogRush widget?

BlogRush widget
After sign up BlogRush, you will be asked to insert a widget code to your blog then a BlogRush widget will be shown on your blog with links to other blog posts of other BlogRush members in the same category of your blog.

The blog links will be opened in new window when clicked. They are re-direct links, therefore, no SEO benefit.

Like the BlogRush links you see, your blog post will be linked in BlogRush widget on other member’s blogs.

Help LiewCF Finds a Girlfriend?!

September 21st, 2007 | Category: Life Log | 32 Comments

I was shocked when I discovered Lilian is helping me to find a girlfriend after reading my previous post! I must clarify that it is totally her idea and I didn’t know about it beforehand.

Anyway, thanks to the effort of Lilian and other bloggers who spread the work, although no girl shows interest yet. :P
Here are the blogs joined “Help LiewCF finds a girlfriend” campaign:

Their posts promote a lot about my income level… I was warned by my mom (after discovering how much I make) to beware of girls who come for my money instead of my personality.

Seriously, I am not a good boyfriend. I am not talkative, not romantic, nor fun. I might be a husband and father who is able to give his family a stable and comfortable life. Who knows?
