AdSense Payment via Western Union, Received!
Filed in: Adsense Tips, Make Money Online — November 6th, 2007I just went to the CIMB Bank last week to receive my 1st AdSense payment by Western Union. It is trouble free, fast, and free!
How to know if you received an AdSense payment?
I thought we will receive email notification when the AdSense payment via Western Union has been issued, but I was wrong. There is no notification from Google about your payment.
In order to know if there is any payment waiting for you, you need to log on your AdSense account. Goto “My Account” tab, then click “Payment History” in submenu.

Under “Earnings and Payments Summary“, look for the description “Payment issued“. Got it? Congratulations! You have money waiting for you! Payment normally issued at 25th each month.
Click on the “details” link to get the payment details. It has all the information you need to receive your AdSense money from Western Union agent. I suggest you print the page out.

Receive Western Union money from CIMB Bank
I brought the payment details and IC to the CIMB Bank branch in the town. I asked for the “Western Union form to receive money” form. It has a yellow color header (Green header form is to send money).

I took a few minutes to understand the form and filled in the form carefully. There was a special counter for Western Union business. No need to take a queue number.
Beside the government issued ID (IC in my case), I was told that I should give a photostate copy of the ID as well. I didn’t know that. Anyway, the staff made a photostate copy for me, free.
Also, I was asked about the purpose of the money. I answered “commission received for online advertisement”. You can answer the same if you have been asked.
Anyway, the whole process took around 5 minutes, and I am back with a stack of notes.
Oh yes, there is no additional charge to receive AdSense money by Western Union.
My two cents
Frankly, I am amazed how easy and fast to receive AdSense money via Western Union. You can get the money immediately the next day the payment has been issued. And, the whole process takes only a few minutes then you receive the money in cash!
No more long waiting for AdSense cheque and slow cheque clearing time. No more additional bank charge for cheque clearing. Plus, you can decide which day to withdraw your AdSense USD payment to save on currency conversion.
By using Western Union, I save some bucks for every AdSense payment because CIMB Bank charges me additional USD15 for US cheque larger than USD1000.

Every month you earn more than USD1000 ? So envy you…
November 6th, 2007 at 3:40 am
Thanks for the info, I’ll try it next month as earnings are slow for me. Didn’t know that CIMB charge additional USD15 for US cheque larger than USD1000 until just now, but never mind, it would take months for me to earn USD1000 from AdSense.
Note to self: Bring a copy of my IC (as CIMB in Kuantan has no photostat machine!?) and when asked the purpose of the money, answer “Google owes me a few hundreds dollars”. Lol.

Next time you can try RHB Bank’s WestUnion because I know its exchange rate will be better a bit so if you get a large amount, the difference will be considerable.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:22 am
I will try it end of this month! Thanks for the sharing!
November 6th, 2007 at 10:24 am
Great, 10 more USD and i’m going to cash out. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:28 am
Thanks Liew. Google doesn’t inform of the payment made. I also saw the screen you highlighted. So 26th of every month is just about right to go and collect right?
I’m collecting today, although almost 2 weeks late already
November 6th, 2007 at 10:31 am

I’ve got mine last Friday. Went to CIMB Cyberjaya. According to them I am the third person clearing payment from Google Inc since morning making them curious on what actually happened as they have no idea about this thing at all . End up being “interviewed” by some their staffs about making money from internet.
November 6th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
Dude, thanks for the link.
November 6th, 2007 at 2:11 pm

Hahah, just read you blog. The same scenario happened to me.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
Well, I’ve just requested a name change so the payee name matches the name on my ID card. Let’s see how it goes!
November 6th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
you mean they give you cold hard cash instead of checks? if yes, then it’s definitely better than waiting for them to mail it
November 6th, 2007 at 7:31 pm
@Michael Woo: yes, it is cash.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:03 pm

November 6th, 2007 at 10:12 pm

November 6th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Yeah first time for everything like this is always fun!
I should have taken more pictures to remember the moment but I think the Postal employees would not appreciate it too much if snap their faces too
November 6th, 2007 at 11:45 pm
Good sharing! We hope we can use Western Union services later.
November 7th, 2007 at 3:14 am
I hope i can get some income like that and withdraw using Western union next time..
November 7th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
Liew,
I had read in a local blog that your income from online biz was around 40K per month. Are you telling us that your income from Adsense is less than $2,800 (max limit)?
I saved some money too because I no longer have to pay for courier services.
November 7th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
thanks for the info. i’ll using it when my adsense income increases
November 7th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
@Ainuddin: I don’t know where did you read about my income, but the information is not truth.
November 7th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Liew,
I will study my net browsing history the past three days to get at the URL of the blog with a posting about your estimated income based on 50,000 subscribers (estimated by the blogger) to your newsletter.
Our PM said this morning (I watch the whole speech at the UMNO AGM this morning), we have to differentiate between facts and lies.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:08 am
@Ainuddin: the 50,000 subscribers was an feedburner error and the blogger estimate my income from the wrong figure.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:30 am
Just got my first check today! I make a mistake. I had requested check instead W.U thinking of higher service charge for W.U. sad….
November 8th, 2007 at 12:37 am
Liew,
Thanks for the explanation.
It is a fact that you are one of my earliest motivators (as far as Adsense is concerned) and one of the top Asian bloggers (I seldom read blogs except http://www.liewcf.com/blog and http://adsense.blogspot.com . I don’t read all those “senang buit duit internet” blogs.
My two other motivators (as far as Adsense is concerned) are Eric Giguere of http://EricGiguere.com and Jonathan Leger of http://AdsenseGold.com).

I am waiting for my first Adsense payment this month after hitting USD100 target. Took me a long 1 and and half years.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:50 am
Nice. How I wish I’ll be receiving cheques from Google.
*wink*
November 16th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Luckily I found this info. I’m really frustrated with my last cheque. Citibank charge me USD103 for LESS AGENT CHARGES. Out of USD114.78, I’m getting only RM13.65.
Did anyone having the same problem too?

Here is my payment detail. I compare it with my last payment.
So let us change to Western Union!
November 17th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
liewcf,
when did we get paid? at the end of the month? or when?
for this month, when we get paid? for western union i mean..
November 18th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
@Leorick Simon: the over USD100 charge is unreasonable. Perhaps you need to ask Citibank about it? Anyway, WU is the BEST payment method for Malaysians (and other Adsense & WU supported countries).
@balootisme: the payment will be issued at 25th of the month (if your earning is more than USD100). Then, you should be able to receive your money locally at the next day, 26th of the month.
November 23rd, 2007 at 12:00 pm
thanks liewcf…
i still waiting for 26th this month for my 1st payment using western union..

Yesterday a bit of confusion at CIMB Kajang again.
My daughter (15+) was told she couldn’t collect her WU payment since she was a minor.
Last month she was told the same thing but was able to get payment after some discussions among the bank staff members at CIMB Kajang.
Again it was discussed and she was paid.
December 5th, 2007 at 7:30 pm
@AdsenseFordummmies: I think the CIMB Kajang already know you n your daughter
December 5th, 2007 at 11:22 pm
my second payment through WU very much easier compared to the first ones, she dont btoher anymore how i got my cheque
December 7th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
LcF,
Probably my daughter is the first minor to be paid via WU in Kajang.
Not her Adsense account actually. My wife elected her to
receive her Adsense earnings.
December 16th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
thanks for the info, i will answer ‘exactly’ as what you did to bank.
also the yellow form thanks for sharing

Is it the “government issued ID” known as “I.C” in malaysia?
January 8th, 2008 at 12:08 am
@Richard: yes, IC is the government issued ID.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:05 am
In about ten day’s time, more or less, we would be getting our payments via MU.
Despite the fact that it is easy to implement Adsense it is not long attractive to its non-US customers because the U.S. dollar is falling, reportedly Google AdSense cares less about small to mid-sized publishers as they used to, etc.
There are claims that if “a European company will come along and provide the same service as Google AdSense, and charge in Euros, it would sweep up all non-U.S. websites in one go, without any doubt.”

Correction: In about ten days’ time, more or less, we would be getting our payments via WU.
“it is not long attractive” should be “it is no longer attractive”.
Sorry.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Mr Liew,
When the payment is issued by Google, is there a time frame within which the payment must be collected.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
@BT Khoo: yes, you have 35 days to pickup your adsense western union payment. If you didn’t pickup your adsense payment, the amount will be credit back to your adsense account.
February 25th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Thank you.
May 20th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
How do I change the option to send by Western Union?
