Why I Have Not Upgrade to WordPress 2.3?

Have you upgraded your blog to WordPress 2.3? I haven’t, even the WordPress 2.3.1 has been released 9 days ago. Why?
There are some reasons:
- Plugins — I use many wordpress plugins, some are custom hacked. I need to check them for updates or search for similar plugins that support version 2.3.
- Tags — As you know, WordPress 2.3 supports native tagging. Currently, I do not use any tagging plugin. All the blog tags you see on previous posts are manual HTML codes. I hope to have a script to import the manual tags to WordPress 2.3.
- Blog editor — I need to check to make sure that my favorite blog editor fully support WordPress 2.3.
- New theme — I have a new blog theme under development (since long long time ago). I wish to launch the new theme together with WordPress update.
Anyway, I should do the WordPress upgrade soon before the release of version 2.4 in December 2007 (check WP roadmap).

That’s also the reason why i haven’t upgrade my WP. Maybe wait after new ver 2.4 to come out first….

my bro ask me to use WP 2.0…..but i never try it out!!
but sure dont use 2.3 first…haha

Since, I’ve just moved to Wordpress (it was 2.3 that time), and I was and still making myself familiar with wp, I can’t tell the difference. and of course the plugins i used is not that much and can be supported in 2.3.1 (current)
Take your time to figure it out and waiting for your upgrades and new theme.

@dicky: wordpress is not hard to upgrade, simply upload & replace files then run upgrade script. However, the unexpected problems are headache. I can’t allow my blog down for hours for troubleshooting…
@vangardx: thank you. simple tags is a tagging plugin for wordpress and WP2.3 has the importer for the plugin. It cannot convert my existing manual tags.
@musica0911: if you would want to switch to wordpress, use the latest version. don’t waste your time on earlier version.

i recommend you all to install wordpress locally and test if all the plugins can work with the new 2.3 release. better screw up locally then screw up live.

you can go find the instructions to upgrade at wordpress.org…. it’s not hard…… and you can upgrade in less than 5 mins……

yes, i installed wordpress many times. the problem is not on the wordpress itself as I mention in the post.

i have updated mine few days ago .. it was a breeze
.. that was because it was from 2.3 to 2.3.1 and there is no change in the database structure.

WP 2.3.1 is not really stable . The editor always hang when submitting links and pictures . I dont know why but now im planning to degrade my WP to early version.

My upgrade happened recently too. small issues here and there but nothin I could not fix.
All good now with tags
