Visit Penang 2008

Filed in: Life Log, Malaysia — March 13th, 2008

I am going to Penang for this weekend. My last visit to Penang was more than 2 years ago. This is not a business trip nor a gathering. I am going Penang to visit friends and eat, eat, eat! Penang is so famous of their food!

I will go to Kuala Lumpur first on Thursday and stay overnight at my brother’s place, then take bus to Penang in the morning the next day. My friend will be my tour guide.

I know some of you are from Penang. You probably will meet me somewhere in the island. Please don’t be shy if you spot me. I don’t bite. :)

(Perhaps I should start a meet-up?)

LOL Looks like a lot of volunteers already to ensure your Penang trip is foodilicious! Yeah, mee udang in Teluk Kumbar, chendol near Komtar, nasi kandar Shariff (in Gelugor, ask USM students!), cheng poh leong (Jelutong night hawkers, served by pretty girls ;-)

    I’m sure you’ll have a good trip!

I drove to Penang last month and stayed there for 2 nights.
The city looks developed specially the George Town area, but things (restaurants and facilities) are still Simple and to be frank night life sucks just like Kuala Lumpur itself.
    But the food,
The food is so damn good.
Specially the Ikan Bakar (a special type of cooking fish) and the coconut which is much more juicy than coconuts over KL.
Toll fees are really expensive (around 200 RM round trip to Penang from KL) although the road is not that safe and developed.

    What else?
    That’s all I remember now :-D

You must try Mitzy Bistro in New World Park. About 15.00++ for set dinner, the cheapest around with delicious set meal. And you get to choose 8 types of ice cream for your dessert.
