Your Sponsored Child’s Annual Progress Report (2008)

August 13th, 2008 | Category: Charity, Life Log | 7 Comments

Few days ago, I received a letter that touched my heart — annual progress report of your, LiewCF dot com readers, World Vision sponsored child. Glad to know that he is in good health and started going to kindergarten.

Annual Progress Report 2008

His name is Rangaraj Vidhya Sagas. He is the lucky child we sponsored via World Vision because of the “100th MyBlogLog Member Challenge” in April 2007. (we have over 1,100 members now!)

Here is the summary of the annual progress report:

Rangaraj is very confident boy. When he grows up, he wants to be a police officer. Rangaraj’s height is 95cm and 10kg in weight (so thin?!). He is living with parent and helps to fetch water at home. Rangaraj has started studying in kindergarten now and learnt rhymes. He likes to pay sports and favourite game is cricket. The good habit Rangaraj learnt last year is obedience. Last year, his community benefited from school, school bag, house renovation, and mosquito net. “Nandri” means “Thank you” in his language (Tamil).

“Look at you! You are so fat yet your ‘child’ is so thin!” My mother commented when she knew that Rangaraj’s weight is only 10KG.

“If I could, I will sponsor extra meals for him!” I replied.

Anyway, we are glad that Rangaraj is in good health. Wish he enjoys studying in kindergarten, have more friends and gain more knowledge.

I’ll continue to sponsor the child as long as I can. “That’s fate that you two link together” Mom said. I am proudly showing Rangaraj’s pic to my friends and say “Look! This is my child!” (and yours too) :)

World Vision (Malaysia) child sponsorship is only RM50/month or RM600/year. If you would like to sponsor a child too, please visit World Vision International for more information.

Gifts of Hope

February 6th, 2008 | Category: Charity | 27 Comments

While you are celebrating for the Chinese New Year 2008, have you thought of the unfortunate people in the world? If you think you are happy, please share some of your happiness with them. I recommend World Vision’s Gift of Hope, a program to help children and families who are in desperate need.

Gifts of Hope (World Vision)

How it works?

The villagers in Sabah, India, and Vietnam made a list of things that they really need, and then World Vision compiles the list into a gift catalogue. You select gifts for yourself or loved one and receive a gift card telling him/her about the gift that you’ve given in his/her honour. The ordered gifts are purchased and delivered to the villagers.

Donation to Wikimedia Foundation

As promised, I made a donation with the collected 27th Birthday Fund. The donation goes to Wikimedia Foundation, which operas Wikipedia and other Wiki-projects.

Why give to Wikimedia?

I have been thinking about who should receive the donation since I have collected the money. I saw the Wikipedia fundraising banner before, but what caused me to make this decision is the following picture on the Wikimedia fundraising blog “Why Give to Wikimedia?
