10,000 BC the Movie

March 11th, 2008 | Category: Movie Reviews | 15 Comments

10,000 BC the movie was a disappointment. Do not watch it if you have not. It is not as great as what is seen from the movie trailer.

10,000 BC the movie

Synopsis

In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter D’Leh (Steven Strait) has found his heart’s passion – the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle). But when a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh leads a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her. As they venture into unknown lands for the first time, the group discovers there are civilizations beyond their own and that mankind’s reach is far greater than they ever knew. At each encounter the group is joined by other tribes who have been attacked by the slave raiders, turning D’Leh’s once-small band into an army.

Driven by destiny, the unlikely warriors must battle prehistoric predators while braving the harshest elements. At their heroic journey’s end, they uncover a lost civilization and learn their ultimate fate lies in an empire beyond imagination, where great pyramids reach into the skies.

Here they will take their stand against a tyrannical god who has brutally enslaved their own. And it is here that D’Leh finally comes to understand that he has been called to save not only Evolet but all of civilization.

10,000 BC movie review

Last Thursday, I watched “10,000 BC” with my friends. We were attracted by the movie trailer. We thought it was a great action / adventure movie with amazing Before Christ(BC) animals. Not quite right.

It is about the journey of a young mammoth hunter to rescue his love and his tribe. It was a rather long and boring journey, only that the people followed him becoming more and more. There are only a few scenes of the giant mammoth, at the beginning and the end of the movie.

PC Fair 2007, Golden Compass, Guang Liang

December 12th, 2007 | Category: Events, Life Log, Movie Reviews | 4 Comments

I am back from KL at Monday. I went to PC Fair 2007, watched the movie “Golden Compass“, and met some college friends.

PC Fair 2007 (3)

I went to the PC Fair with my brother and 2 college friends. We were quite disappointed.

No new gadgets, no new technology. No games, no lucky draws, no interesting activities, and no hot showgirls (opps!). It is more like year-end stock clearance sales.

The computer companies were focusing on sales of notebook and LCD monitors. The accessories sales are mostly notebook related such as portable hard disk, notebook cooler, etc. Also, wireless broadband services are everywhere in the PC Fair.

I bought 2 eneloop rechargeable battery by SANYO.

Rush Hour 3 Movie

August 11th, 2007 | Category: Movie Reviews | 3 Comments

I watched Rush Hour 3 the movie with my friends at Thursday night. We used to watch movie as a gang but that day my friend invited his girlfriend-wanna-be too. He joked that next time he would want to watch alone with the girl. Duh.

Like the previous series, Chris Tucker is in charge of making jokes and Jackie Chan for the actions in the movie. Jackie Chan is so serious in the movie that only smiles once at the last minute of the show.

Somehow I felt that Rush Hour 3 story line is similar to Jackie Chan’s movies in Hong Kong. There is no breakthrough. Maybe I watched too many Jackie Chan’s movies?

Die Hard 4 Movie - Bruce Willis Fights Hackers

July 6th, 2007 | Category: Life Log, Movie Reviews | 12 Comments

Yesterday night, I watched Die Hard 4.0 (or Live Free or Die Hard) with friend. I do not remember exactly the previous series. The only thing I remember is that John McClane (Bruce Willis) is a never-die hardcore detective. This time, he takes on a team of high-tech terrorist team (hackers) who wants to shut down the whole U.S.

I was quite surprised and enjoyed the fights of “analog” (Willis) and “digital” (hackers). Though not sure how realistic it is, but it is amazing to see what can be done after hacking into the top government systems. Hmm… it recalled my dream to be a hacker last time. Shhh… ;)

By the way, Maggie Q (Mai) is gorgeous! In the movie, she is a beautiful hacker with sexy voice and skillful kung fu.

Due to the nature of a tech blogger, I often pay attention to the tech stuff in the movie. Nokia phones are highlighted in Die Hard 4.0. The terrorists use only Nokia N90 and Matt Farrell (Justin Long), a young hacker who assists John, uses Nokia 9300 PDA phone for satellite access and mainframe hacking. Oh, I love the “base” of Warlock (Kevin Smith). That’s very cool!

P.S. I learned how to steal a BMW car. ;)

What I Learned from Shrek the Third (Shrek 3)

June 1st, 2007 | Category: Life Log, Movie Reviews | 3 Comments

I watched Shrek the Third (Shrek 3) with my friend (a guy, too bad :P ). I watched the previous Shrek series, and Shrek 3 is as good if not better. Recommended!

Plot Outline: When his new father-in-law, King Harold falls ill, Shrek is looked at as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away. Not one to give up his beloved swamp, Shrek recruits his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to install the rebellious Artie as the new king. Princess Fiona, however, rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend off a coup d’etat by the jilted Prince Charming. [IMDb]

What I learned from Shrek 3?

  • Be yourself, not what people think you are
  • Be confident (even you are not)
  • Never give up before you try
  • Everyone is unique with own talent
  • Girl Power!
  • Baby is not as terrifying as any father-gonna-be thought
  • Add yours?
