What does it mean to you, a blog reader?

If you want to read some interesting Malaysian blogs, it is a good list to start with. Visit every one of them to discover the one you like.

What does it mean to you, a blogger?

Why are they Top 100 and you are not in the list? Why are they popular and your blog has no readers?

It is a good list for you to study the reasons that other blogs are more popular than you, and how you can improve your blog.

Check the blog designs. Check what topics are popular. Check their writing styles. Check their ads placements. Etc.

I am sure you can learn alot from the top Malaysian blogs and improve yours to be one of them.

By the way, if you think your blog deserved to be listed in the Top 100 Malaysian Blogs, feel free to contact Adi Wong to add yours.

P.S. I wonder who in the top 100 bloggers attended the recent Bloggers’ Universe Malaysia Gathering 2009 (BUM 2009)?

Blogger: “Your blog is marked as spam”

April 21st, 2009 | Category: Google, Weblog | 14 Comments

Received an email from my beautiful accountant yelling for help. Her innocent personal blog has been marked as spam by blogger.com and asked her to request for a i-am-not-spam review.

Your blog is marked as spam

Her blog will be reviewed, and, and if everything is ok, will be unlocked in 2 working days. Otherwise, Blogger.com will remove her blog within weeks. She is not alone.

Those are probably false positives of the Blogger’s spam-prevention robots.

Solution? Submit the form and pray. Chances are your blog will be removed from the spam blog list.

My two cents

Although Blogger.com is my choice of Free blog hosting, this is another reason why you need a self-hosted blog over a free one.

most reliable blog hostingYou want to host your blog for free, but which is the most reliable blog hosting?

Pingdom did a uptime survey of nine blogging services for a period of 4 months. They discovered that the Top 3 most reliable blog hosting services are: Typepad (not free), Blogger, and Wordpress.com.

uptime for blogging services, 10 nov 2008 - 10 mar 2009

Reliable and Free?

Among the Top 3, Blogger and WordPress.com offer free account. Both have the same downtime of 20 minutes in the 4 months survey period.

So, which is better? I would say Blogger.

Although WordPress.com offer free account too but there are many limitations, one of them is “no custom css”. You cannot edit nor change your own blog theme. You have to pay to have WordPress.com premium features.

Note: WordPress.com is NOT WordPress.ORG (blog publishing application).

On the other hand, Blogger, which is backed by Google big brother, does not have such limitations and has better offer.

Project Petaling Street, Sold!

March 23rd, 2009 | Category: Malaysia, Weblog | 21 Comments

The 1st Malaysian blog-ping aggregator, Project Petaling Street (PPS) has been sold, 3 months before its 6th year of service (12 June 2009).

PPS sale letter

The new owner, who prefers to stay anonymous, contacted me last week and sent me the copy of sales letter. The buyer prefer to keep the sales price in private but I can tell you that it is a very good buy. I would buy PPS at that price too, without blinking my eyes!

Write Blog Posts for Money

November 10th, 2008 | Category: Make Money Online, Weblog | 22 Comments

So, you want to make FAST money by blogging? Someone from Singapore is looking for part time bloggers to write about Asian celebrities. Each blog post get paid for $1 USD.

Will you take the job? Personally, I think $1 USD is under paid. If you are willing to blog for $1 USD per post, please let me know. ;)

Writing paid blog posts is a fast way to make money online. The more you write, the more money you get.

For me, it is not an ideal way. If you are able to write many blog posts, you would better setup your own blog and start making money from your blog.

You will need to take some time to learn about setting up a blog, blog marketing and promotion, and some tips and tricks on blogging. Here are some books that might help:
