BlogsMalaysia has been Abandoned?

BlogsMalaysia was a blog portal project started in 2005 by a group of leading Malaysian bloggers. Bloggers submit their articles and BlogsMalaysia editors approve them. It was a great idea, but a recent revisit I discovered that it has been abandoned.

BlogsMalaysia is a PageRank 6 site, but the last update on the front page was 25 October 2006, which was about six months ago! The site news has not been updated since November 2005.

However, the website is still accepting new members. But without editor’s approval, no new article will be published on BlogsMalaysia.

According to the About page, BlogsMalaysia have 11 editors: Chan Lilian, Cowboy Caleb, Kenny Sia, Lainie, Mack Zulkifli, Michael Ooi, Minishorts, Paul Tan, Peter Tan, Sixthseal, and Suanie. You should know them if you are Malaysian bloggers.

My two cents

It is sad if BlogsMalaysia has been abandoned. We all know that not every project will be successful, at least it had been started. The domain name will be expired on 23-jul-2007, I wish to take over it. Afterall, it is a PR6 site! :P

    I’ve haven heard about it before, most probably i was not into the blogosphere that time. If you want that domain, you should keep quiet and apply, now that you’ve mentioned, you just get yourself more competitors ;p

    It was quite a hype when it was launched last year, no? But then again, the idea of submitting other people’s post didn’t strike off as “interesting” to me. Plus, you need at least an editor to approve it. And by the time they did, other “more interesting” posts had been published.

    You have a better idea of how to “repackage” it, Liew? :)
