DNS Changer malware is a trojan that changes the infected computer’s DNS (domain name server) settings, in order to divert traffic to unsolicited, and potentially illegal sites.

In plain English: DNSChanger could trick you into visiting fake sites and steal your data and money.

You are recommended to check your computer for DNS Changer malware immediately! Simply visit http://dnschanger.detect.my/ (Malaysia).

If your system is clean then you will get a message in green background (see screenshot). Else, you will see a alert message in red background and visit the removal page to fix and remove DNSChanger malware.

Visit http://www.dcwg.org/ for more information.

BlackBerry OS 7 has been voted the most secure mobile OS for enterprise use, according to new research from Trend Micro (PDF).

The independent study evaluated today’s four leading mobile operating systems: BlackBerry OS, Apple iOS, Windows Phone, and Android.

The evolution areas are built-in security, authentication, data protection, device protection, application security, device wipe, mobile device management, corporate managed email, support for ActiveSync, security certifications, device firewall, virtualization.

BlackBerry OS has scored the best among the all. “Corporate-grade security and manageability make this platform the option of choice for the most stringent mobile roles.”, says report.

The 2nd place is Apple iOS. Windows Phone, though new in market, gained 3rd place. Android is the last, with lowest security and manageability in the segment.

Previously, we showed you how to use a Flashback Trojan checker to know if your Mac is infected by the most widespread OS X malware ever. But virus removal was manual.

Now, F-Secure has released a free and easy-to-use tool to detect and remove Flashback Trojan.

Download and unzip FlashbackRemoval.zip on the Mac computer you want to scan.

Double-click the “FlashBack Removal” app to run the tool.

Follow the instruction to check your system and clean any infections

The removal tool creates a log file (RemoveFlashback.log) on your Desktop. If any infections are found, they are quarantined into an encrypted ZIP file (flashback_quarantine.zip) to your Home folder. (The ZIP is encrypted with the password ‘infected’.)

Is your Mac clean from Flashback Trojan?

Flashback Trojan has infected over 600,000 Mac computers around the world. It is the largest Mac malware threat yet.

In this article, you will learn how to download Flashback Trojan Checker to easily check if your Mac computer has infected, as well as manual virus removal instructions.

Flashback Trojan Checker

Initially, you need to run some Terminal commands to check if your Mac is infected. Some guys are kind enough to write free scripts and app to make it easy for you.

One of them is the FlashbackChecker (hosted by github). Simply download the zip file, unzip and run the FlashbackChecker app.

If the app tells you “No Signs of infection were found.” then your Mac is safe. Else, visit F-Secure site for Flashback trojan manual removal instructions. (We don’t have automated removal tool, yet)

Free Mac antivirus

Flashback trojan threat shows that Mac computers no longer safe from virus and malware. You should start protect your Mac using an AntiVirus.

Check out 3 Totally FREE Antivirus for Mac OS X

Make sure your password is not in the list!

Guess what’s the No.1 worst password? Result after the break.

25 worst passwords in 2011

Apparently, the worst password is, well, “password”, which you see when prompt for password. My favor lazy password was “qwe123″ which doesn’t make into the list.

The list was compiled from files containing millions of stolen passwords posted online by hackers. If you are using any of the passwords in the list, change your password immediately!

SplashData suggested some tips for more secure passwords:

Use password of 8 characters or more with mixed types of characters.

Avoid using the same username/password combination for multiple websites.

Use password manager software to organizes and protects password, and can automatically log you into websites.

Facebook Phonebook has raised privacy concern about sharing phone numbers of yours and your friends. In this article, you will learn how Facebook get your phone numbers and how to delete the data.

Why worry?

Few days ago, my friend asked me to check if his phone number appears in my Facebook Contacts or not. Yes, his number is listed. My friend, who is very concerned about his online privacy, was worrying that everyone could see his phone number. I explained that the phone numbers are not public and only for myself only.

Why NOT to worry?

Later, TechCrunch published an article about the Facebook phone numbers and here is the Facebook official response:

“Rumors claiming that your phone contacts are visible to everyone on Facebook are false. Our Contacts list, formerly called Phonebook, has existed for a long time. The phone numbers listed there were either added by your friends themselves and made visible to you, or you have previously synced your phone contacts with Facebook. Just like on your phone, only you can see these numbers.”

How did Facebook collect your phone numbers?

Basically, it is either…

Phone numbers are shared by your friends to you on their Facebook profile.

You have chosen to upload/sync contact information from your phone to Facebook. (you might not remember that…)

Tip: You can customize Facebook Privacy to decide who see your contact information.

How to delete Facebook contacts phone numbers?

If you are worrying about Facebook misuses your phonebook contacts, you always have to choice to remove imported contacts.

By removing imported and synced contacts, Facebook “Friend Suggestions” for you and your friends may become less relevant. Though your synched contacts will be removed, but it will still display contact info of your friends who have included it on their profiles.

Do you think keeping a copy of your contacts on Facebook is a good or bad idea, and why?

Why Facebook Has Your Phone Numbers?
Google now can detect computers that are infected by malicious software (malware) that send traffic to Google through proxy servers, and warn you about it and recommend anti-spyware software to fix it.

The malware traffic was discovered by Google while performing routine maintenance on their data centers.

Malware on infected computers send traffic to Google through proxy servers, which could hijack your private information such as website login information.

If your computer is infected, you will see a “Your computer appears to be infected” notification at the top of Google web search results.

Here are the Google recommendations for (free) anti-spyware software to detect and remove malware:
