Malaysia .MY Domain Registry has announced that the registration of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) for Jawi, Chinese and Tamil is now open to existing .MY customers from 20 September 2011 to 30 November 2011.

All .MY customers are encouraged to secure their Jawi, Chinese and Tamil domain name before the IDN opened to public by end of 2011.

The registration is FREE for the 1st year. After the first year, you will need to renew each domain annually. No info about the IDN renewal fee, yet.

The launch of .XXX domain name divided into 3 stages: Sunrise, Landrush, and General Availability. Sunrise started at September 7th. Then, Landrush at November 8th and General Availability at December 6th.

Launch of .XXX domain: Sunrise, Landrush, General Availability

At Sunrise stage, you need to be either 1) Sunrise A: A member of the adult Sponsored Community or 2) Sunrise B: Non-member but with trademark rights that wish to block your domain in the .XXX TLD.

If you are member of Adult Sponsored Commnity and don’t have a registered trademark but looking to register and develop .XXX domain name, then you can wait for Landrush at November 8th to register your ideal .XXX domain name.

General Availability begins December 6, 2011, and remaining .XXX domain names will be allocated to applicants on a first come, first served basis. All members of the adult Sponsored Community can apply without pre-existing rights or qualifications unlike in the previous launch periods.

For non-member of adult Sponsored Community, you may apply on a first-come, first-served basis to register your .XXX names corresponding to personal names or other words in which you have a legitimate interest.

MATRADE’s (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation) mission is to develop and promote Malaysia’s export to the world. It has a good looking Joomla powered website but it is not non-Internet-Explorer user friendly.

A Facebook friend, Calum Halcrow discovered that the MATRADE online registration form only accept Internet Explorer (IE) web browser. No Chrome. No Firefox. No Safari. No non-IE!

When you try to access the registration form using other web browser, it will redirect you to a notice page says “Please use ONLY Microsoft Internet Explorer for you to view this form” and shows an image of various web browser icons (see image above) but only one get “ticked” – IE. (I wonder how much time the web developer took to create the image.)

Why did the developer choose to ignore the web standard and make the form available to IE only? Calum Halcrow thinks that the system is probably highly tied to Microsoft .NET or other technologies. For your information, Malaysia government is “Microsoft-Friendly”.

Ironically, the footer of the website says “Best viewed on Firefox 3 with 1024*764 resolution” while Firefox gets a “negative” by the online registration form.

I would like to inform the MATRADE web developer that IE is only the 3rd popular browser in Malaysia. Most popular browser is Google Chrome and followed by Mozilla Firefox.

Adobe released a new beta software, code-named Muse, to allow graphic designers create websites as easy as creating layouts for print. You can design and publish HTML pages to the web standards (HTML5 and CSS3) without writing code.

Adobe Muse beta is now available for free download at http://muse.adobe.com. It is a Adobe Air application, you can run it on Windows and Mac OS. If you think Adobe Air application is slow then Muse will surprise you. I installed it on my Mac OS X Lion and it runs like a native application, fast and no lagging.

In Muse, you get 4 tabs to represent the workflow of web development: Plan, Design, Preview, and Publish.

1. Plan – plan the structure of website, sitemaps.
2. Design – design the layout of each web pages, just like working on Adobe InDesign.
3. Preview – preview and test your website before publish
4. Publish – publish the website to Adobe hosting or your hosting provider

I’m not sure how many of you readers are willing to take 2 steps (install the app first then scan QR code later) to have your blog app in their iPhone but you have nothing to lose.

As the number of people using mobile device increases at a rapid rate, the development of mobile apps is also keeping pace. Here are some of the current top trends in mobile app development.

1. Mobile Search

Research has shown that most people using search on mobile devices are looking expressly for locations to do business.
