I brought Dlink modem router DSL-500T, only 1 port. When I plug in the cable and ac power to this router. I goto 192.168.1.1 of this router web application. I was told to select internet connection type(WAN). Either Synamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, Bridge mode. Which one I should choose? You can go to this link to download the DLink manual.

Jyyoong,

You can either choose WAN, Static IP or either PPPoE. each of have their own function. I would suggest you choose PPPoE, from there it will ask you to enter your streamyx username and password.

Just insert your username and password then save everything and your internet connection will be ready in next 20 second. PPPoE function as a auto dialer which is built into your modem router. It will make an internet connection automatically.

You wont need to click on any icon in your computer to mak ethe connection. Just set the router as what i told you and you can start to surf. Basically, you need to plug in all ur cable baru it works la. Hehe

Thanks Ah Khiong for telling me. I saw the light of ADSL in my router modem is not work. It's alwaysblink in green colour. According to TMNET the line is not correct. Need technician to come over to my house to check. It suppose to green light forever and not blink.

Yep if the DSL light keep blinking, it means that either there is a connection problem at the streamyx terminal in your area or your house phone line are expose. They most probably will help you to change a new phone line.

I kno why. I have 2 line in my house. 1 is main line directly from TMNET another one is subline where I ask contractor to do it for me. Modem router only work well if you use main line.

I dont think so jyyoong, modem router works well on any line with streamyx. I dont think only substitude to the main line. This is what the contractor told you ? you might get cheaten if he really told you that.

Im using sub line (2nd line) as streamyc on my router modem as well and it works fine leh. Maybe the contractor is lazy eh. Try to check

I actually I have 1 phoneline(phone number 79287690). But this main line is dowstair. Then 2 years ago I ask my wireman(contractor) to lay another buline to upstair but same phone number. My router modem is upstair using the subline. I call 1300889515, the tmnet technician told me that I should use main line downstair. Off course cannot lah because downstair no place for me to put my computer. Now I really dun know what to do. Maybe should get the same wiremen to swap the line.

Why not you get a spliter from tmnet. They provide spliter for me as well to. I may cost you RM20 if im not mistaken.

Now I know how to handle it. My streamyx can run.
1) DNS must set in router mode - Ask tmnet IP address
2) The network card - Do not need to set anything
3) DHP server - set to allow DHP server to assign IP to the client
4) login - username@streamyx
5) Relay DNS - made sure you set recomended user defined.

Hi, I am new member to join LiewCF.com. I just bought a new Dlink DSL-500T as my streamyx connection. But it seems same problem with ah jyyoong but can I have the print screen for this setting?? I am using streamyx 1MB. Please advice , Thanks
