Filed in: Tips — June 26th, 2005

Solution for “500 Illegal PORT command” FTP error.

No sure why this happen, just now I connect to my FTP server but it return:

Response: 500 Illegal PORT command
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing

Connected but cannot list out the files. :???:

I ask Google, and got answer in seconds – switch to passive mode.

For FileZilla user, click Edit -> Settings… -> Connections -> Firewall settings, tick “Passive Mode” checkbox.
