Gifts of Hope

Filed in: Charity and Donations — February 6th, 2008

While you are celebrating for the Chinese New Year 2008, have you thought of the unfortunate people in the world? If you think you are happy, please share some of your happiness with them. I recommend World Vision’s Gift of Hope, a program to help children and families who are in desperate need.

Gifts of Hope (World Vision)

How it works?

The villagers in Sabah, India, and Vietnam made a list of things that they really need, and then World Vision compiles the list into a gift catalogue. You select gifts for yourself or loved one and receive a gift card telling him/her about the gift that you’ve given in his/her honour. The ordered gifts are purchased and delivered to the villagers.

Community water system from LiewCF.com

I have decided to order a community water system (RM1100) from the Gift of Hope catalogue. Here is the quote from the catalogue:

More than 80% of all diseases in developing countries are caused by unclean drinking water and inadequate sanitation. You can help supply a Vietnamese community with a water system, hand-pump or well. A community water system brings clean, safe water for drinking, bathing or cooking. Your gift will also free children from walking long distances to fetch water.

Clean water is very important. I hope the villagers can enjoy clean water from the “LiewCF.com water system” as soon as possible (kidding, no donator’s name printed on the pipe) .

Don’t wait! Order a gift now! (price range from RM15 to RM18,000)

It is the best present for the community I think. Have been sponsoring a child with a friend of mine and planning to adopt another one. It is time we should do something to the community. Good job to you.
