Google now can detect computers that are infected by malicious software (malware) that send traffic to Google through proxy servers, and warn you about it and recommend anti-spyware software to fix it.
The malware traffic was discovered by Google while performing routine maintenance on their data centers.
Malware on infected computers send traffic to Google through proxy servers, which could hijack your private information such as website login information.
If your computer is infected, you will see a “Your computer appears to be infected” notification at the top of Google web search results.
Here are the Google recommendations for (free) anti-spyware software to detect and remove malware:
- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Windows)
- Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus in Google Pack (Windows)
- MacScan (Mac OS)
