Google News in Malaysia

Google News for Malaysia is available at http://news.google.com.my. With this launch there are now 56 regional editions of Google News available in 20 different languages.

Just like Google News, you can personalize the news page for your own preferences. What’s different is that Google News for Malaysia has “Malaysia” and “Southeast Asia” news sections.

Other Malaysian news are also given higher priority in related news sections such as Sci/Tech, Business, Health, Entertainment, and Sports.

What do you think of Google News for Malaysia?

Looks ok but like Adi Wong says, there are still a lot of foreign news embedded with our local news. Another thing is the reliability of the news – we need to evaluate it …. I mean about the possibility of being neutral and not bias…

Malaysia don’t have so many news in each sections. The news are selected by google news bot from different sources, i would say it is neutral.

Just to clarify how Google News works. Google crawls the web for over 4500 English-language news sources including many leading Malaysian publications. Through multiple signals, their automated system can tell which articles are of high interest to Malaysians and all related articles will then be grouped into one “story” on Google News. The articles that are original in content (ie. not a press release or syndicated article) will be shown first, so that users will get the freshest, analytical content from multiple viewpoints on a “story”. When a user clicks on the link, they will be directed to the publisher’s online site, thereby
driving more traffic to the publisher to monetize. The stories on Google News Malaysia are refreshed every few minutes.

    Hope this clears the air.
