Increase uTorrent Download Speed

I posted about some tips on increase BitTorrent(BT) download speed. Now, John has a more specified article about “How to increase download speeds of uTorrent“.

Basically, you need to find out the optimal settings for upload/download speed, upload slots, and connection peers based on your Internet connection speed.

    First go to Options>Preferences>Network

    1. Under ‘Port used for incomming connections’, enter any port number. It is best to use a port number above 10000. I use 45682.
    2. Randomize port each time utorrent starts: UNCHECKED. I leave this unchecked because I have a router. If you do not have a router or a firewall, and want extra security,check this option.
    3. Enable UPnP port mapping (Windows Xp or later only): UNCHECKED. I leave this unchecked because I have experienced it slowing down speeds. It is not needed if you manually port forward.
    4. Add utorrent to Windows Firewall exceptions (Windows XP SP2 or later only): UNCHECKED (do this only if you have windows firewall disabled)
    5. Global Maximum upload rate (kb/s): [0: unlimited]: 22 (for 256k connection)
    6. Protocol Encryption: ENABLED. I would recommend everyone to enable this. This can help increase speeds with many ISPs.
    7. Allow incoming Legacy Connections: CHECKED

    Go to:
    http://www.abbasrazi.co.cc
    and download optimizers to increase the speed

    i am using other’s internet connection by configuring my comp’s ip and mac address accordingly.if now i wish to increase my download speed…then how can i accomplish that….need help.the internet connection i steal usually is either 128 kb/ps or 256 kb/ps.

    hi guys! i have mostly THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF ALL!!!!! i cannot download any torrent. ANY torrent. even ones with 177 seeds and 234 peers give me a speed of 0.9 kb/s!!!! i have a broadband connection of 256kbs and i need real help. rock i tried all your ways and all your downloads, all failed!!!!! i have a download manager named DAP Premium and i get speeds up to 50kbs. but utorrent doesn’t!!! I need to give you my system details:

    hey dude chill
    go to the site of greedytorrent and dl greedytorrent
    run gt and go to preferences and see the port
    them go to utorrent and press control+p
    goto connection put use http as proxy and type there ip adderes
    127.0.0.1, put the port for proxy which you had seen in greedytorrent preferences…
    done enjoy the great speed og utorrent

    Rock it helped me.

    Download speed depends mainly on the upload speed.

    Now my upload speed increased from 33 kb/s to 100 kb/s by increasing the upload load limit from 1kb/s to 30 kb/s.
    Option->Preference->Bandwidth

    It is simple if you give more you can take more.
