iOS “Do Not Disturb” Schedule Does NOT Work, Apple Aired TV Ad Highlight the Feature

  • iOS “Do Not Disturb” schedule does not turn on/off in 2013.
  • Apple aired first iPhone 5 TV Ad “Dream” highlights “Do Not Disturb” feature.

On 1st January 2013, iOS 6 users discovered that the “Do Not Disturb” feature didn’t turn itself off automatically as scheduled. That’s not a big problem, a simple tap to turn off it.

But, on 2nd January 2013, I discovered that “Do Not Disturb” feature does not turn ON as scheduled. I was woken up by 3rd party alarm clock (which should not work if “Do Not Disturb” is active).

iOS 6 Do Not Disturb schedule settings

“Do Not Disturb” schedule does not turn on itself.

Refer to the screenshot above. I scheduled “Do Not Disturb” from 12:00am to 10:30am but it is not on (no moon icon in status bar) when I woke up at 6:59am.

Apple release “Do Not Disturb” commercial

Ironically, Apple aired its first new iPhone 5 commercial of 2013 called “Dream” featuring the Williams sisters playing table tennis and highlighted the iOS “Do Not Disturb” feature.

“Ever have a really cool dream? I’m having one right now. I don’t want to be disturbed; and I won’t, because before I went to sleep, I set this. Now my iPhone knows not to ring, unless it’s important. ‘Cause disturbing this would just be…wrong.”

Wrong. “Do Not Disturb” schedule does NOT work in 2013. Now iOS users cannot have their cool “Dream”.

Please fix it, Apple.
