JobsDB: Sorry, We only Supports IE

Filed in: Life Log, Web — July 9th, 2004

Got a resume update reminder from JobsDB.com, when I try to login to update my information. I got this:

We apologize that “MyJobsDB member section” only supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP at this moment because of incompatible behavior on other browsers and operating systems especially in supporting XML.

Other browser(e.g. Mozilla, Firefox) is not compatible to support XML?! :???:

I guess they must be using javascript that is incompatible with non-IE browsers.

isn’t the whole raison d’ete of java is to be compatible with
every system and enable different systems to talk to each other?

there has been a court ruling where microsoft cannot use javascript
anymore. they lost the case brought by sunmicrosystem. i think it
explains why u cannot access it with ur mozilla etc, microsoft have
to remove this whatsit that enable other systems to talk to Internet
explorer. u can solve it like i did, just download java from the
sunmicrosystem website. maybe it is too simple a solution and may no
    not satisfy u.
or it may not work. hahaa

Sorry for the short reply. != is a Not equal sign in programming languages.
For different between Java & JavaScript, you may refer to:

Note that support XML doesn’t means support RSS feed, though RSS feeds use XML. There are many use of XML.

The jobsdb does not support other browser because they does not code the website to be cross browser compatible.
