Maxis Malaysia Launched iPhone 3GS and Enhanced iValue Plans

Filed in: Events, Gadgets, Malaysia — August 1st, 2009

Maxis launched iPhone 3GS in Malaysia at July 31, 2009 (Friday) as well as the enhanced iValue packages and upgrade offers.

With the official launch, Maxis also enhanced iValue plans features to give better offers. Now every iValue plan will included free data, as well as free SMS and free MMS (Maxis to Maxis)!

iValue plan customers also enjoy free calls and sms between Maxis family lines.

Here is the overview of new iValue plans features:

There is also 0% interest easy payment scheme for all Maybank, HSBC, Citibank and Public Bank Visa and Mastercard customers.

Existing Maxis iPhone 3G-no-S customers could upgrade to iPhone 3GS and get at least RM500 rebate.

My two cents

Another move for better iPhone plan from Maxis. The added free SMS and free MMS features surely attract more people to switch, although limited to Maxis-to-Maxis numbers.

“Does the pre-booking customers also enjoy the enhanced iValue plan?” is the question in my mind now.

For existing Maxis iPhone 3G-no-S customers, it is not worth to upgrade to iPhone 3GS even with the rebate offer.

What do you think?

of course they should include all the pre booking customers – after all we are the ones who made the commitment to buy teh iphones black and white and also took the trouble to go all the way to pay RM 200 deposit.

the free sms and mms are only limited to maxis numbers – so they do not reallly lose

    http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone3gs/rate

Data included in iValue Plans applies to mobile Internet usage
only and excludes SMS, and other subscription based services. Data bundle is for local usage only. The maximum charge for local usage is up to RM250

can anyone do a check on this RM 250 amount – ridiculous

why is so high – can it not be lower say at RM 120 or so

as we have to sign a commitment to Maxis – they should not charge us an arm or a leg

if we buy the prepaid version of iphone RM 2,490 and use it as an iphone with an unlimited 3g access it is only RM 99 per month

maybe you can highlight this unfair charge of RM 99 and RM 250 – very big difference

some more we have to commit ourselves to 12 or 24 months

i think is very expensive package..of course if you want the phone (not parallel import) that is the only way.

taking the most expensive package…since it will reflect cheapest call, sms and mms.

Take sms amount to RM40 and mms amonunt to RM10. Broadband digi could get them for RM58/3GB, so left the amount to be divided by minutes which is still more than 10cents (about 0.1068/minutes) ….the high package for other telco is all free calls (much cheaper rate)….rates are towards calls to any telco….while this are only for maxis to maxis..

but some amount also will contribute towards the phone….

The added value is not that significant…it just another gimmick to sell the new phone really. But yes, if you can afford to have one why not… anyway has anyone heard about the Google TV beta version?…Hope LiewCF can shares his view on Google TV…
