Maybank Reject My Current Account Application!

I applied for Maybank’s Premier Mudharabah Account-i (PMA-i, a kind of current account) but got rejected for no reason by Maybank banking system.

What is PMA-i account?

PMA-i is a current account for personal that pays dividends. You do not need an introducer to open a PMA-i account. It can be applied via Maybank2u online application.

Why do I apply for a PMA-i account?

I need a cheque book because I want to make offline charity donations and book/magazines subscriptions.

In order to have a cheque book, you need a current account. To open a current account, you normally required to have an introducer who is an existing current account holder. PMA-i does not need an introducer and you can apply online at Maybank2u website. That’s why I tried PMA-i

Why am I rejected by Maybank?

Currently, I have 2 accounts with Maybank. One is saving account (Kluang branch), another is Maybank Premier (current account) for Online Stock, which does not issue cheque book.

I applied the Maybank Premier account at Maybank2u via their online application with my Kluang address. But it is the Maybank Batu Pahat agent came to Kluang to open the current account for me.

Now, when I submitted my PMA-i application, the Maybank system detected that I have 2 accounts at 2 different places and thus rejected my application.

If I would like to open a current account, I have to do it manually at Maybank branch and need an introducer.

Maybank, Whose fault is it?

Dear Maybank,

you rejected me because I opened 2 accounts at 2 different places. When I submitted my forms, I clearly filled in my Kluang address. It is your Maybank Batu Pahat agent who came to Kluang, asked me to sign all the forms and then opened my Premier account in Batu Pahat.

The general feedback from my friends about Maybank services is “suck!”.

It is good that Maybank started to redesign Maybank2u website but, at the same time, they need to improve the systems and services, too.

My friends have the same recommendation of bank to open a personal current account, that is Hong Leong Bank.

Please share your banking experiences?

Update: I sent this article to Ahmad Shareza bin Abdul Rahman, the head of Maybank Virtual Banking and received his reply at 5:53pm saying that he will check on this and get back to me.

aiseh… the bank so sombong, tot they r the only bank provide the service ah? When I want to open a current account, I never think of MBB althought I have a few accounts with them…

I choose AmIslamic Bank. They do request for introducer, but I request the officer to check to their system as I m their customer since long long long long ago althought is not with that particular branch (of course I never have current account with them before) and at the end the officer allow me to open the account without introducer. The officer just take less than a minit to make the decision.

That is the flexibility which the tiger bank cannot provide to their customer.

Maybank sucks. Big time.
I forgot the password for the online margin trading account and asked for help to retrieve it, they had me run around, so I decided to close the account. After three years, it’s still not closed and they kept sending me monthly statements for a dormant account!!

Well if we’re talking about SERVICE by MBB here, of course theirs are unsatisfactory.

But if you REALLY need a current account, and cheque, then why don’t you just get AN INTRODUCER (I believe many people willing to be your introducer ) and do charity, and pay my comment (hehe).

I have 2 accounts with Maybank. A personal saving account with the Alor Star main branch and a Maybank2U Premiere (previously known as i-Account, a interest paying current account which does not require any introducer) with Penang main branch. I have no problem opening a third one.

It is a standard procedure that an introducer is needed to open a current account.
Sometimes if you have no introducer, the branch manager will be one for that purpose.

actually, if you have a gold card from public bank (credit card), PB Bank doesn’t need an introducer for a current account

Alamak! everybody seems dislike Maybank. I was the bank staff before. I would rather agree that to some extend some of the bank’s staff are quite “sombong” when attending to customers. In fact, I had experienced the same when I was visiting one of the branches. but when they recognized me, they immediately changed hahaha..

just for info, normally when you open a premier savings the bank shall offer you to open a personal current account to be linked to that savings. In your case, I didn’t know why only premier savings was given.

Hmmm…I hope my former department shall continue to educate the frontline staff and at the same time to continue improving the products which have become unattractive nowadays.

Hope Datuk Seri Wahid will do something better!

Maybank BoleH。。 If U Join “cepat kaya” using their a/c, U got no problems. But if your current a/c have few ‘void’ cheqce ,their will ask for detail like Bukit Aman…
.And If MBB Cr Card few month not settle,THEY work very hard to TAG (ISA) your others a/c, while others bank will try to understand your problems…………
So. just move to better service’s bank…..
Other local bank H, P also offer online ebroking………….
keep our dummy a/c by rm1 ……………………

I walked-in personally to maybank branch in Kulai for a current account and cek book. But they said the minimum is RM3000 for a new account. Is that true???
