Predict Demographics of Any Website

Filed in: Microsoft, Web — June 30th, 2007

It is common that advertisers ask for website demographics before they decide to advertise on your website. However, certain data such as gender and age are not available on any web statistic report. The webmaster can only get the data through running a website survey.

Now, Microsoft adCenter Labs might have an alternative solution to predict demographics, the Demographics Prediction.

From the demographics prediction of LiewCF Tech Blog, 64% visitors are male and the age is between 25 to 34. I do not have the exact data but I would say it is accurate to what I expected.

Besides predict demographics for a website, the Demographics Prediction also works for search queries. For example, “hello kitty” query is female-oriented (74%) and age: 25 to 34.

Try Demographics Prediction on your sites and tell me what do you think!

hehe, cool, just the right tool for my post on “are there more male/female in the blogsphere”.

I’ve got more male readers than female and most are in the 18-34 age range.

    Interesting…

Internet demographics in Malaysia seems to show more male than female (at the rate of 2:1 / 65-35) — result for most Malaysia-centric sites or sites with dominate Malaysian audience. Globally, more like 50-50 male-female. And women flock to men sites too, making up 30+% of their audience ;)

Liew, aren’t u supposed to be away until next month? ;)

Wow, so now we can find out the ratio between male and female readers! But, some may still fake their gender, no?
