Remove MSN Messenger Side Tabs
Filed in: Microsoft, Tips — June 10th, 2005I have show you how to remove advertisement in MSN Messenger. Now I am going to show you how to remove the MSN Messenger side tabs. 
Before: annoying and useless side tabs
After: Tabs gone!
There are two ways to remove the tabs:
- Manually: (advance user only)
Open registry editor(regedit), navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft MSNMEssenger PerPassportSettings random_number“. Change the value of “DisableTabs” to 1 (default is 0). Done.Note: the random_number is a series of numeric. You may get a few differet numbers under “PerPasswordSettings”, change all “DisableTabs” value under them. - Auto: (Recommended)
Download Tab Enabler/Disabler for MSN Messenger 7 from Mess.be. Extract the downloaded zip file, run “ted.exe”(tab disabler).
Enter your MSN Messenger ID (e.g.: [email protected]) into the text field, then click “Disable tabs” to remove MSN Messenger side tabs. To restore back the tabs, run the Tab disabler again but click “Enable tabs” instead.

My two cents
After removed advertisements and side tabs, this is my MSN Messenger look (contact list collapsed). Clean huh?
