Singapore Bloggers Charged Under Sedition Act Over Racist Remarks

Singapore TV news reported it for two days. It is a shock to Singapore blogsphere.

Twenty-five-year-old Nicholas Lim Yew and 27-year-old Benjamin Koh Song Huat are being accused of posting racist comments on an online forum and on their blog site.

They are both being charged with committing a seditious act, by promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility between races in Singapore.

Update: Peter Tan temporary shut down his blog to avoid similar problem in his blog’s user submitted comment.

Thought:

After knowing that I am a blogger too, my mom asks me to be careful. I think my blog theme is quite safe from such trouble.

The moral of the story: “Your blog is not your freedom.” Since blog is open to public, think twice before you post.
