Skype for Office LAN?

With Skype, you can call, transfer files, and IM with others. How nice it is if Skype releases a LAN version, which require no Internet connection and works in local area network?! It may need to have a centre server to keep the contact list of the LAN, though.

Ok, you might say that everyone in the LAN can connect to the Internet and talk with each others there. But it means at the same times, your staffs can talk with others non-company staff, e.g. their boyfriend and girlfriend, too. Plus, it will take up too much company’s Internet bandwidth.

Anyway, before Skype realease a LAN version, here is a list of Free LAN Instant Messengers.

Hmm… a LAN version of MSN Messenger is great, too! Video conference in office LAN! :)

    Yeah, netmeeting is a nice tool for lan file transfer or chat. One more which is useful is winchat.exe which can be found inside your own computer c:windowssystem32

    It’s a nice LAN chat program too but the weakness is it can’t send file nor anything. I still suggest Netmeeting is the best.

    However, Microsoft hidden NetMeeting in Windows XP. To open Netmeeting in WinXP, goto: Start – > Run -> type: conf.exe
