I am now using my own PC, the old pentium III. It has been about three months since the last time I am using it, because I left it in KL when I back hometown.
Thanks to my good friend, BoonHan. He brought my PC back from KL last month before Christmas.
I realised that I have used to using my brothes’ computer(PC and notebook), and I used to Windows XP already. At home, XP. In office, XP too.
Switch to Linux?
Found that there are many unnecessary programs installed at my PC. I seriously thought about switching to Linux/FreeBSD permanently. If so, I will spend a lot time to switch(research, learn, migrate data…).
Let’s put it in my schedule.
OS does not need to change first. The Windows 2000 is still run well on a P3 450MHz. But I have reinstalled Firefox.
Firefox Removed and Installed
The previous version is Firefox 1.0PR with A LOT extensions. It became not stable when I install Firefox 1.0 over it.
So, I removed old Firefox completely(include profile) and install version 1.0. As usual, Firefox works great but I need some extensions to make it better.
Went to Mozilla Update, it changed to a new and better look. Easier to access than previous version.
Deploy Custom Packaged Firefox
After browse through ALL the extensions, I downloaded 17 extensions. I think I may make a custom package of Firefox with all the “must have” extensions.
With custom packaged Firefox, I do not need to find and install every extensions that I needed. For new Firefox users, a custom packaged Firefox will be easier to use.
Want to build your own package too? Try Firefox Deployment Guide.
