LiewCF.com Upgraded to WordPress 1.5 and Changed Path

Filed in: Site News, WordPress — April 21st, 2005

Finally, I decided to upgrade LiewCF.com to WordPress 1.5. I was planning to wait ALL the plugins that I use in WP 1.2.2 to be upgraded to version 1.5 before I upgrade the blog script.

However, seems like I can’t wait anymore, the comment system of WP 1.2.2 does not work correctly recently – permalink page cannot be displayed if there is comment.

I installed WP 1.5 into another directory (/blog), copy and upgrade the WP 1.2.2 database. Everything works fine, including the comment system.

Therefore, I decided to officially upgrade LiewCF.com. Upgrade is easy, but the later work like redirect all previous paths to current is a bit tricky.

Also, I need to search and install suitable WordPress 1.5 plugins, add top navigation menu, forum, etc.

Ahh… and Google Adsense! The income drop alot in these few days… :(

yep i know about the click on search thing :)

lol i’m trying to figure out what happened to my browsers, i remember i could still see google ads on sites, just recently i realized i see none except on gmail and google itself, seems like the javascript got blocked out by something, couldn’t be my antivirus though.

so yeah i hate it too coz i can’t see it, didn’t even realize i chose the wrong display format for my adsense until i asked a friend to checked few mins ago :)

it gets interesting though, i notice i couldn’t load the adsense javascript http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js , can’t even access http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/ (i get connection is refused message) while i could if i use one of the anonymous surfing service on the web. could u manually load the javascript? if u could then i guess that’s my problem, weird but true.

Personally, I never use more than a single link in the comment I post because doing so can trigger spam catchers if the user has that plugin activated, whereas a single link will not.
