Walk-Through Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 Automatic Update

Firefox 1.5 Beta 2Have you update to Firefox 1.5 Beta 2? I have updated to Beta 2 from Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 using the automatic update feature. Here is the process walk-through during my update.

  1. Click on “Help”, then “Check for Updates…”.

  2. Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 detected an update. Huh? Firefox 1.4.1?

  3. The automatic list down the Firefox extensions that may not work with the new version.

  4. Downloading new update… Only 1.1MB. Good!

  5. Download complete, restart Firefox. Yeah! Yeah!

  6. Wait. The update failed!? Need to download complete update!

  7. Downloading complete update… File size 8.4MB. :(

  8. Finally, update completed. Running Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 (version 1.4.1).

Thought

Too bad, the small size update failed me, I still need to download the full size update. Though the update stated that some Firefox extensions are not compatible, but all extensions are working after update completed. [tags]Firefox[/tags]

    but how come the version i’m using now is 1.0.7? i thought at one timeit was you, lcf, who had informed us about updating to 1.0.7? why now it is 1.5?

    firefox 1.0.x will auto update to latest 1.0.x version..
    1.5 is still beta and u can only find it at the corner of the website in mozilla.

    Lucia: Sorry to confuse you. Firefox current STABLE version is Firefox 1.0.7. The Firefox 1.5 Beta is.. BETA. :P It is for those who don’t afraid to die one! :P

    Oh boy, that was the coolest walkthrough ever!

    On a sidenote, here’s a walkthrough, which I think is downright marvellous, on how to check email:

    1. Start Outlook Express (or Mozilla Thunderbird, or any email client, or even web browser).

    3. Read your new mail.

    I don’t mean to insult. But come on, do you think we need a ‘WALKTHROUGH’ (meaning someone has the potential to get stuck and need troubleshoot) for a simplistic stuff like that?

    Anyone who’s using a computer now ought to hold at least the Bachelor of Mouse Clicking (otherwise it’s illegal to use a computer), which means we can do the click click stuff on our own.
