Webe 4G+ Network with 300Mbps Download Speed

Webe network speed could be up to 300Mbps at the end of 2017.

2 months after webe network available nationwide on 30 September 2016, webe invited media friends to their newly refurbished headquarter (previously P1 HQ) for a webe technology roadmap briefing.

“Mobility networks aren’t just about coverage and speed. It is about how we can optimise the experience for everyone by using data we already know and making smart choices about the type of technology we deploy and where we deploy it,” shared our Chief Technical Officer, Shurish Subbramaniam.

Band 5 and Band 40

Webe is the only mobile network in Malaysia able to deploy on both band 5(FDD 850Mhz) and band 40(TDD 2300MHz).

Other Asia countries with band 5 network are Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, and South Korea. Band 40 network is also available in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka Uzbekistan. (source)

Band 5 with lower frequency improves indoor network penetration. It provides a better signal in buildings. Band 40 has a higher frequency and gives higher data speed.

“We combined these technologies so that users get the best of both user experience and coverage,” said Shurish.

Webe 4G+ 300Mbps network

By 2017, Webe customers will be able to enjoy 4G+ network (165 Mbps), which make possible by 2 Carrier Aggregation (2 CC CA) technology (TDD2300, 20MHz + TDD2300, 10MHz).

At the event, Webe demonstrated its mobile network speed at 300 Mbps using 3 Carrier Aggregation (3 CC CA)(TD2300, 20MHz + TD2300, 10Mhz + FDD850, 10MHz).

It will be available to the public by the end of 2017. The first five areas to enjoy the super fast mobile network speed are Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching.

Webe will use “smart roll out plan” to identified demanding areas. Meaning, the roll out plan is according to customer’s demand. The more webe data heavy users in an area, the faster the area get a network upgrade.

Driven by the ecosystem in China and India, the 2 most populous countries in the world, webe is confident that more phones will support both Band 5 and Band 40.
