Microsoft Windows 8 has been launched for a month, have you grabbed the Windows Upgrade Offer yet? LiewCF was invited to the Windows 8 Asia Pacific Launch held in Singapore. In this article, I will share my experience of the 1-day event.

The Windows 8 launch event was held at Esplanade Roof Terrace in the afternoon. We gathered at the hotel lobby and took a shutter bus to the venue. After registration and some refreshment at Loola’s, Esplanade Theatre, we were separated into smaller groups: bloggers & journalists.

After the keynote by Tracey Fellows, President, Microsoft Asia Pacific, we head to the Windows 8 experience zone and met Jason Lim, the General Manager, Windows and Windows Live Division, Microsoft Asia Pacific for roundtable session.

Poh Huai Bin (Malaysian lifestyle blogger, sixthseal.com) and Jim Saret (co-host and coach of The Biggest Loser, Philippines Edition) both shared their Windows 8 experiences.

After that, we are free to get hands-on the various Windows 8 devices: all-in-one, notebooks, ultrabooks, convertibles, tablets… There are so many that I have to do it in another article.

After touching, tapping, stroking (but no hammer testing) the Windows 8 devices, we ended the day with a speakers group photo in front of the beautiful Windows 8 backdrop.

Unlike the Windows 8 launch in U.S., the Singapore event did not mention a single word about the Microsoft Surface tablet. It is understandable when you have over 50 Windows 8 devices in Asia. You certainly do not want to steal the focus and upset the all manufacturers.

LiewCF’s Two Cents

Many thanks to Microsoft for the invitation and generously flying us to Singapore for the event. It was a great experience and I enjoyed very much!

Not many companies are willing to spend so much to invite bloggers to their events. As a full-time blogger, I really appreciate the recognition given.

Oh ya, we do have goodies bag! All the media members received a very nice Windows 8 notebook bag, with also a water bottle and a full version of Windows 8 Pro DVD! grin grin
